Just come back from a fabulous week at this amazing hotel - it is paradise! Have been visiting for 20 years and it just gets better and better. The food, rooms, staff and location are incredible - I would have to give it 11 out if 10!
Morgan Bay Hotel is absolutely fantastic for a family vacation. Everything is absolutely perfect, the service, the rooms, and especially the absolutely amazing views you wake up to. There are many activities there to do, including abseiling. I would really recommend this place for a nice and relaxing vacation.
We had our annual retreat there at the hotel (home) again this year. What more can I say that hasn’t been said before. It’s our place to replenish our souls and bodies. We were certainly treated and spoilt with excellent service and hospitality. Nothing is impossible in making our stay feel like it’s home from home except home isn’t as good as being spoilt at your hotel. The food, staff and overall experience as always was 5 star. Oh and by the way let’s not forget about the spa which we frequented daily was an experience not to forget. The hostess went out her way to make us always feel welcome and relaxed. We certainly will be back later this year and definitely in January 2025. Well done to Richard and Jackie you have truly found a winning formula.
I love this tranquil getaway. You can enjoy the scenic beach views while you are served 4 course meals, canapes before dinner, buffet breakfast and a personalised welcome.
I have no hesitation in giving a 5 star review! Everything about our stay was absolutely fabulous! The personal touch of being an 'owner-managed' hotel was so obvious. Richard, Erica and Tuffy made us feel like most valued friends. Beautiful setting and decor, as well as excellent cuisine, ensured that we will be returning.
Our two-night stay was the most enjoyable and memorable hotel experience which we have ever had!Richard, Erica, Tuffy, Judy, and Jordan "conspired" with me to make the celebration of my wife's birthday even more special.The accommodation, service, meals, and facilities were exceptional, and we were made to feel like family and not guests. We hope to return soon and thank you again.

We stayed here on our Grand SA Tour with TUI. This is an AMAZING place! Everything is so nice. I loved it! The rooms are beautiful, clean and spacious and very nicely decorated. The beds are very good. The views are amazing; the hotel is right on the shore. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a good and varied menu. Everything is beautifully decorated and has a nice atmosphere. The shop has nice things; check it out! There is a nice coastal walk which we did and it takes you around for 4 or 6 or 8 km. Wear good shoes; there is a little climbing over stones involved. We only stayed 2 nights, I would have liked to stay longer!

The food was top tier every meal was plated beautifully, the lunch was unparalleled in terms of variety and flavour as well as the freshness and quality of the food was absolutely outstanding. The room was beautifully appointed and clean with fresh towels and a comfortable bed, it was such a treat hearing the ocean waves every night. The entertainment was great Levi, Courtni and Xanden are such caring , fun and compassionate people the kids were so excited and would always look forward to the daily adventures and activities that was just an excellent touch which also allowed for parents to catch up on some rest and relaxation which was appreciated. Everything was over and above our expectations time and time again Morgan Bay hotel is such an exceptional and special place. The renovations also look so lovely and modern.The eats at 10am and 4pm and the canapés were just out of this world in terms of taste. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

It's my last full day at Morgan Bay Hotel, and I feel it’s an experience that will linger long after I've left. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warmth of this family-run hotel. Nothing about it feels generic, which is something I value.
If location is everything, then Morgan Bay Hotel has it all. Right on the edge of the beachfront, the views of ocean and cliffsides are cinematic. I enjoyed the leisurely and peaceful early morning beach walks. Even in peak holiday season, it's relatively quiet, perfect for slowing down and relaxing.
Our room is comfy and stylish with a splendid ocean view, right from the bed! The bathroom is smallish, but with enough surface areas to put things down. It has a shower and bathtub. Note: slippers and robes are not provided. Hairdryer is available on request from reception, and it's a proper hairdryer.
Even though our room is next to the communal area, it feels private and secluded. The room is accessible with a wooden ramp, and it's only a few steps to the communal areas and dining room.
I love the jungle-themed communal areas and dining room with lots of greenery, natural textures, and playful design elements (see the fruit monkeys). Guests gather before and after meals, reading, chatting, playing games or simply gazing at the spectacular views. If it's silence and solitude you're after, there's an upstairs quiet lounge with interesting books and comfy seating - no kids allowed.
I could actually write a separate review of the food; it gets a standing ovation from me. With a full-board experience, expect fresh, flavourful, and expertly prepared dishes. Breakfasts are hearty with many healthy options, and just as many sinfully decadent ones. The buffet lunch is a spoilt-for-choice affair, and the set dinners a culinary celebration. Did I mention elevenses, afternoon coffees and canapés at the bar before dinner?
While the location and amenities are great, it’s the people who make Morgan Bay Hotel exceptional. The staff are friendly, attentive, and ready with a smile or helpful suggestion. This hotel clearly operates with heart, and every guest is treated like a valued friend.
For a coastal retreat with comfort, beauty, and and family-friendly hospitality, Morgan Bay Hotel is it. This is a place I want to return to.

This is our 4th visit and it STILL feels like we're coming home. A warm welcome from the time you walk through the door! And Erica and Mandy are always happy to have a quick chat or laugh. I spent a lot of time working in the lounge and Thobile was always there to offer me drinks... got to know my favorites! Noleen, our waitress, was amazing - really good service and friendly, happy to chat. And then ... THE FOOD!!! Oh my gosh! Best we've ever had - especially canapés and dinner - flavour next level! Overnight oats and chia seeds was a lovely add to morning breakfast and most delicious bakes. Being foodies, we were in heaven - thank you to your head chef & his team. The rooms are perfectly serviced and clean, super comfortable. It's also nice to see Richard and Jackie from time to time, always with friendly greetings - makes a difference! Honestly, cannot find fault! A piece of my heart remains there, and can't wait for next stay!

An incredible family hotel, with all the charm of years ago but with a new modern look. You will not get a better view, tastier meals and rooms that look over the most beautiful beach. Helpful friendly staff go out of their way to make your stay incredible. This hotel is the gem of the South African coastline!

On behalf of my wife ( Diana ) and I, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to making our short stay at your Hotel so pleasant and memorable.
Our check-in at reception on Sunday afternoon 9th Feb. was welcoming and efficient, thank you Nicci. Our daily interactions with all those Ladies working at reception were friendly and informative.
The room cleaner Vuvu made our room up early each day and left it nice and clean.
What can we say about the dining room, the food and service was superb, special mention must be made of our waitress, Linda, what a pleasure she is. Clearly, she is an asset to your staff. Compliments to the Chefs and kitchen staff too, for the wonderful food. Thank you.
You must have known beforehand that I was a messy eater and, hence no tablecloths on our table ( no 1 ) which was just as well, as they would have needed changing every day !. Only kidding, we understand the green colour of the table matched the wall paint colour behind.
Thank you all so much, we look forward to returning, some day in the future.

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. My one week holiday couldn’t have been better. Superb, 5 star food, lovely view and newly renovated rooms. Had a lovely welcome by Mandy and great dinner service from Monika. The highlight was seeing the owner's dogs every day, as I am also a dog lover - beautiful to see them saying hello. I will definitely be back next year, and can highly recommend this gem.

"You beat me to it – I was going to write to say how much we enjoyed our week with you – it was everything we hoped it would be and really was the perfect spot for our family gathering. The children are already asking when can we go again! The weather didn’t really hamper us and certainly didn’t stop the children swimming and doing all those fun things.

"We all had the best holiday and have returned home relaxed and happy - and determined to return to MB one day soon. Thank you for all you did to create such a relaxing and welcoming environment where all our needs were more than catered for. The meals were excellent and every mouthful thoroughly enjoyed and loved the luxury of not having to cook for a week. All in all it created a special memory which is what I had hoped for.
My Dad, John Suggit, says he knows the Warren-Smith family and remembers them from Grahamstown. He is 95 years old and has a phenomenal memory but although he says he knows Richard he may be referring to another member of the family."

"I am sorry it has taken me so long to write this but I didn’t want to rush it. I am sure all your guests absolutely gush about how wonderful their stays are… this is another one of those
As you know, I started planning this trip over 3 years ago when my aunt was still alive but suffering from cancer and my gran (whilst being amazing) was getting older and had injured her leg so was feeling a bit down – I wanted to give them both something to live for. In addition to that, we have a very close family... my grandfather being an anaesthetist in Harare and his brother owning a very successful farm about an hour outside of Harare meant that throughout the years, there have been plenty of family gatherings between both their families on the farm and in Harare. With the drama in Zimbabwe, the farms were lost and most of the family was dispersed throughout the world ... UK, Australia, Dubai, USA, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Cape Town & Jhb... So needless to say, as families got bigger, there were fewer opportunities for us all to be together with the cost of traveling etc… Morgan Bay Hotel gave us the perfect combination of being in the same place but also having the flexibility to do our own thing plus the link to my gran’s youth as she grew up in Butterworth (on another note, she drove via Queenstown on the way home to see the school where she was head girl in the 1940s). In addition to all this… my one aunt refuses to go back to Zim as she is too emotional about it and the other hardly ever comes to South Africa so having the opportunity to have them all together was so special.
So, that was the background, while we didn’t get everyone together, we got at least half the family. It was such an amazing few days, as you have heard repeatedly from everyone who was there and I am now getting pressure to plan another one so that the guys who missed out can join us next time. The personal attention and care from you and the whole team there was exceptional, considering I work in high end tourism, you know that is very high praise. Nevermind the hotel itself, the food (thank heavens we only had 4 days, not sure any diet would have brought us back from the amount of food we ate otherwise), the staff (especially managing us in the dining room), the personal notes etc and then going the extra mile for my cousins to join us on the last night (as well as kindly overlooking their presence in the bar with us each night) – really it was one of the best holidays any of us have ever had! As with any family, we don’t all always get on, but we did that week purely thanks to how easy everything was and how ideal the location was. I really have run out of words except to say thank you thank you thank you for all your help and work on our booking, we hope to be back and my husband and I will definitely continue with our annual walk from the house in Haga Haga to Morgan Bay for lunch when we come down on holiday. Morgan Bay Hotel really has given us the most special gift... Such wonderful family members which we will cherish for a long time."

"As the dust begins to settle and we are back home getting into the swing of married life, I just wanted to take some time to write an email to say thank you.
Our wedding was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!! I cannot begin to even start explaining how totally thrilled we are. People have been talking about it for days. And Craig is just over the moon.
The food was magnificent. From the canape's to the mains, etc. Everything was scrumptious and presented beautifully. The soup idea worked really well!!!
Your (your sister's?) bar staff were really on top of things, and the one gentleman (I never got his name - but he may have been in charge- he was in slightly different clothing to the others) was so wonderful. He knew exactly what was going on at all times and came to make sure we were happy on more than one occasion. My only regret is that I couldn't find him on Sunday -because I know he wanted some of the leftover ice-cream!
The lady greeting us at reception was very helpful and allowed us to check in earlier and made sure everyone was comfortable. Everyone at the Deck were so friendly and so calm (which helped calm me down!!) and the pizza served on Friday went down so well.
I am so glad that Craig decided to have our wedding at Morgan's Bay - and while it was a tad stressful planning a destination wedding - it was all worth it in the end.
So many guests have said they will be back :)"

"The Morgan Bay Hotel is a quaint, charming hotel set on some of the most beautiful unspoilt coastline I've ever seen. The view from our balcony was sea, beaches and coves as far as the eye could see. The food is fantastic, the staff super attentive. Everyone we met was friendly (from hotel staff, to locals and even local dogs). We wished that we'd stayed longer and on our way out we were already planning our next stay there."

"We found the receptionist very friendly and helpful, we loved the room and balcony to be able to enjoy the view. My wife loved the welcome we received through the menu, lovely idea. "The situation is excellent, drinks and food are reasonably priced, it just would have been nice to have a bit more of a selection at lunchtime - there was lots of fried food. The hosts could not have been more accommodating or welcoming. We loved it."

"What a wonderful experience this was! We felt most welcome and cared for. All the staff were most kind and obliging. One felt they had all been trained in hospitality and felt they shared in the tenor of the service. The printed menu and bulletin each morning and evening meant one was kept in touch with who had arrived at the hotel, the tides and weather for the day, and each person was warmly welcomed. Everything about our experience was good - the meals, the comfort of the beds and room and the walks along the beach, rocks and whole area."

"To begin with I made a mistake with my booking date and was still in the Transkei when I should have been in Morgan Bay! The next day when I called them they said not to worry, I should still come, they had a room, and did not charge me extra! The place is lovely, friendly and perfect for kids. After "kiddies dinner" they are whisked off for some kind of activity, allowing the grown-ups time to play. The food is great, and there are plenty of activities to choose from. I will definitely be back!"
